Prince Edward Island

Joe and I crossed the Confederation Bridge on July 15th.... WOW!...it really has been along time since I have added any posts to the blog. The Confederation Bridge is a 9 mile long bridge ( the longest bridge over ice covered waters in the world) that links PEI with New Brunswick.

This was our home for 12 wonderful nights at the Cavendish KOA. None of us were quite ready to leave at the end of our stay. We had site 66...nice and roomy, shady, and not to far from the doggie park.

We met alot of new friends at the doggie park everyday...some had 4 legs and some had 2!
We met Candice and Roger (from Ontario) the first night we were there. Actually, they came to meet our pups. All 6 of us visited (well, maybe not Jack) and played. Candice and Roger were over bright and early Monday morning and invited Dover and Wrecks for a walk to Tim Hortons. Wrecks and Roger are best friends for life!  Anyway, they stayed an extra day and we all rode to Souris...a small town on the eastern side of the island. We had a great lunch at the Breakwater Restaurant on the bay. That night, Roger and Candice shared the last of their butter tarts and pastries they bought from The Clucking Hen on the Cabot Trail with us. We had alot of fun and laughs and enjoyed spending time with them.

Some sites we saw on our Harley...
The farm lands are so pretty... a lot of corn, but the main crop on the island is potatoes.

We rode past Malpeque Bay and the oyster farms...world famous oysters! They are shipped all over the world.

There are lots of fishing villages...
Lots of changes in scenery to be such a small island.

I had to stop for a t-shirt in Cornwall.

Fort Amherst at Port La Joye. The Charlottetown harbor is in the background.

The lighthouse at Victoria...southeast on the island.

A view of Cavendish and North Rustico...

Lucy Maud Montgomery is the author of Anne of Green Gables. She was from PEI.
There is lots to do for all ages.

Potatoes with the Gulf of St. Lawrence in the background. The blooms are so pretty...some are white and some are light purple.

The Boardwalk at Cavendish...

The Cow's ice cream made on PEI is voted Canada's Best Ice Cream!

We made several stops here...
The small craft harbor at North Rustico...Lobster fishing is the source of income.

  1. Isn't that bridge something. Ken was not enamoured with driving over it, TWICE. I thought it was amazing. What's next on the agenda for you guys??? Glad to hear you're going to be in Ocala with us, looking forward to it. Ken is in the hospital, he had appendicitis. Had it out yesterday, maybe home tomorrow. All is well.
