Kerrville, Texas

Medina Highpoint Resort
Medina, TX
November 2017

Anyone who follows this blog knows that breakfast/brunch is my favorite meal to eat out.  On a drizzly, cool day a few weeks ago, Joe and I made the very curvy, hilly, pretty drive from Medina Highpoint Resort to  Kerrville for breakfast.
Our choice of places was a legendary hometown cafe.

The food was good, the service was great, but what I really enjoyed the most was the people...hometown folks coming in for coffee and breakfast calling each other by name and catching up on the weeks news.  People watching  has always been a favorite pastime.

Hill Country Cafe is located on Main Street in the heart of the downtown historic section of town...a perfect location for a stroll.

By the time we decided to head home, we were quite impressed with the history and hard working settlers who came to the area back in the day making Kerrville what it is today.

From Water Street we had a nice view of the Guadalupe River which runs through the heart of Kerrville.

Kerrville-Schreiner Park began as a city park built by the CCC in the 1930s then deeded to the State of Texas and became a State Park.  In 2004, it was transferred back to the city of Kerrville.

Today, the park covers 517 acres which includes walking/biking trails, a butterfly garden, an amphitheater, a water sports area, mini cabins and two RV parks.

We enjoyed a beautiful day with Joe, Jena and Felix...

 Until next time...

 HAPPY TRAILS !

  4. I love, love Kerrville and have spent quite a bit of time there. It might have something to do with the fact that my father was born and raised there. Hopefully, we'll be able to visit again real soon.

  5. Love all your pics of this historic town - I'm sold! Those hometown diners are the best for good vittles and local color. Glad you got some time to explore with family. That grandbaby is a cutie!
