A Day for the Birds!

By mid morning the sun had warmed up to a very nice 71 degrees F. Just a beautiful day to sit outside and read. It wasn't long till I heard the birds...first the crows. I put the kindle down and picked up the camera just in time to look up and see a busy crow squawking. Wrecks was tormented!

Looks like the makings of a nest. Below is the feeder in our yard here.

These old crows have NOT been very busy! Just sorta sitting there taking in all the goings and comings...or so I thought. They were spotted in Apopka,FL by Rick and Kathy Rousseau (ricknkathyrousseau.blogspot.com) from It's about time.

OK all my bloggin buddies...is this a Cooper's Hawk or a Western Red-Tail Hawk in the picture below? He was spotted in the tree next door to us. He and the crows were not getting along!

Couldn't resist the butterfly...

Jack and Dover waiting very patiently to go to the doggie park...

I just liked this picture...the bird  was brownish, but had a pretty yellow spot on his wing which does not show up in the photo.

Another attempt to get a hummer in flight...

Could this be the end?

Hummer and dove...

Sally has a new doo!

Well, the geese are headed north, but we are "Here for Now" and just loving it. Plan to be here until March 8th.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday and rest of the week. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit us. If time allows, leave us a comment. And remember...y'all come back!

Little Italy

Joe and I have both been alittle under the weather....trying to get over a cold. It seems like one day we feel better then whamo...the next day we don't have any energy. We have gotten a lot of rest and orange juice and things are looking up! Yesterday was market day at Little Italy. I have been looking forward to going all week. So after coffee, cereal, and doggie park time we headed out. The market is every Saturday from 8:00 to 2:00. It's about a 15 minute drive from the KOA and parking was not too bad. Several blocks are blocked off from traffic and booths are set up on both sides of the street.

Our first purchase...navel oranges, blood oranges, tangerines, and red walnuts! We have never had red walnuts...they are quite tasty. I enjoyed all the free samples!
We brought 3 baskets home! The first pick of the season.

We settled on a sourdough loaf and 3 yummy dippin' oils... Joe's favorite, basil, my favorite sun-dried tomato and garlic, and a rosemary grapeseed oil.  I didn't get a picture of the cheeses...there were so many to choose from. Dry Jack and smoked cheddar landed in our bag!

Local artists...
Real or not?

Herb gardens...

A very talented family...a mom and her 3 children. This little guy is sitting in front of his mom in the picture on the left.
Lots and lots of fresh flowers...all colors, shapes, and sizes!

This is India Street. It was just a short walk to the car.  The smell of coffee filled the air!

It was a wonderful day. We filled our new Little Italy bag with lots of yummy things to eat. Saturday night Nancy and Marty, a nice couple from Portland, joined us for fresh fruit, chesse, bread and dips, and wine. We laughed alot, shared alot, and look forward to another visit someday. We just continue to meet the most wonderful people!

Thank you so much for visiting our blog. We love it when you leave a comment...you are the best part about blogging! Hope you have a great week! Can you believe February is almost over...my, my how time flies! Y'all come back again real soon!

Old Town San Diego

Part 1...

Last Tuesday, was a beautiful day to get out and about. Old Town was our destination. Instead of driving,  we rode the bus to the 24th Street blue line trolley station and then switched over at 12th & Imperial station for the green line which took us to the entrance of Old Town.

It was a short walk over the river bridge to the corner for the bus stop.

The short walk, bus ride and changing trolley lines took about 40 min.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day

There was 1 bloom in the coral tree.

Most interesting...a Swartzkoph or black head.

All these flowers are from our KOA park. It is so pretty here...we are really enjoying our stay. When I think of Valentines, I think of love and flowers. I enjoyed walking and taking pictures and just wanted to share our pictures of flowers with you.

I have been watching this hummer everyday at the bark park. He is a busy little thing. My goal was to get a picture of him in flight...yeah  for me! I ended up with 2 pictures. There are lots of feeders and bird baths all around the campground. They are filled everyday. What fun it is to watch them!
I think this is a wren.

Our puppies have had a good time at the park too!
