It has been far too long since my last post. I didn't have anything to really write about and haven't even been out with the camera so there weren't any pictures to share either.
I think I see a puppy nose... |
A huge thanks to Lisa of www.metamorphosisroad.blogspot.com fame for letting me know Verdins like oranges. Oranges are in abundance around here and what a treat it has been to watch these little acrobats maneuver on, under, and all around. I stuck orange halves on as many tree branches as I could.
Shortly after Christmas and his last chemo treatment, Joe got pneumonia. No fun! He had a chest x-ray on Dec 29 and a PET scan on Dec. 30 and another chest x-ray on Jan. 9 after a round of antibiotics.
Dover and Jack waiting patiently...
Well, today was the day we have been waiting for...Oh happy day! Joe is cancer free and the pneumonia is almost gone...so much so that Dr. Chen said she wouldn't worry about him. But a promise was made to call her if anything doesn't "feel right". So, tentative plans to go to San Diego for a month are now a go! We were really busy when we got home getting things in order to pull out in the morning. Yippe!
So, until next time from sunny Southern California, take care and...
happy trails!
What a great idea! I love the oranges for the birds!
ReplyDeleteIt has been so much fun watching them the past few weeks Jeri. It's a good thing the oranges around this park are free! They still visit the hummingbird feeder too.
DeleteWonderful news about Joe!!! Enjoy San Diego...travel safely. --Dave (GoingRvWay.com)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave! We are so excited about life! And I can't wait to get my toes on the sand!
DeleteYAY Joe! That's is wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteYou got some fantastic Verdin shots! That very first one in particular is so cute!
Perhaps our paths will cross in SD, we are at Mission Bay till 2/2.
He is a grumpy looking little fellow isn't he? Our lemon tree has gotten quite a few looks with the oranges in it...
DeleteIt would be great to meet you and Hans. I do hope to visit Mission Bay. Our friends Dave and Lynn are staying there too.
That is such fabulous news about Joe!! What a weight it must be off both of your shoulders. Joe must be in heaven now with the chemo finally over with positive results. Good hear the pneumonia is almost gone, as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam...we are so happy to be rollin' again! Can't wait to enjoy some beach time...
DeleteFantastic news! I'm sure Joe is happy to have the treatments behind him and to have such positive results.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures!
Thank you Joan. It hasn't really sunk in yet and the thermometer is still on the dresser. We are so looking forward to transitioning to a normal routine.
DeleteI always wished I could sew too...LOL!
Forgot to mention how nice your pillows look. I've always wished I could sew.
ReplyDeleteSuch good news about Joe. I'm sure you're 'over the moon'. Give him a huge hug from us. Enjoy the warm weather as we're not liking our first winter in Canada in a long time. So darn cold and what is with this white stuff anyhow. Take care.
ReplyDeleteYes we are Ruth. And your hug was delivered!
DeleteWhite stuff...yikes!
Hugs to Jackson!
Wonderful news! So happy to hear Joe is doing better & you get to move on to new discoveries! Also, nice job on the pillows. Their color really adds some pop.
ReplyDeleteAw...thanks Gayle. Sewing is not my thing! Just glad it's done and I didn't have to rip out but one seam!
DeleteCan't wait to stick my toes in the ocean!
Great news about Joe! I've had oranges out, but the little verdin hasn't appeared in weeks. :( Nice shots of yours.
ReplyDeleteI'll wave as you shoot by on I-8 to San Diego...
And if you hear your name along with "good morning" being shouted out from afar...it will be us!
DeleteGay, this is a post that I know you have been waiting to write and one that friends have been waiting to read. I am so happy for you both. Words can't express the joy of reading this. Cancer free, wow what a relief. Drive safely and enjoy every minute of your stay in Ca! Beautiful photos of your little bird, that brought joy to you when you needed it most.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sheila. We are so excited to be on the road again...and oh how I love the ocean! Joe insisted that I pick a place I really wanted to go. We visited San Diego 2 years ago and I loved every second of it...can't wait to get my toes in the sand! And relax and enjoy the shore birds!
DeleteWonderful news! The best news around in 2015 for you and Joe, That is so great to hear that you will be up and about again.
ReplyDeleteLove all those Verdin captures. Now I know when I get there, an orange will get me a Verdin!
Good job on your first sewing experiment, it turned out good and I like the colors. No I can not sew and I refuse to do so :)
That's so funny to me that you refuse to sew...I was the same way until it became a necessity. Pillow covers that are not washable don't belong in a small home with 4 canine dependents! Believe me, I looked and looked before I finally gave in MonaLisa! Of course now, Joe is dreaming up lots of projects...yikes!
DeleteSo happy for the great news! I loved the pillows! I'm like you-even though I took home ec in high school and sewed things for me and the girls back in the day-I've not picked up a needle and thread in many years. I'm inspired! I can't wait to see some beach pictures! Happy travels and abundant health to you all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Robbye. I can't believe how beautiful the weather is here in San Diego. I sure hope to get to the beach before he end of the week!
