On the west side of the peninsula are sandstone cliffs along the ocean called Sunset Cliffs. Geologically these cliffs are known as the Point Loma Formation. They contain fossils, including dinosaur fossils from about 75 million years ago.

The cliffs are unstable and can be dangerous.

Once the sun has disappeared, there is still plenty of light left. Twilight occurs from the moment the sun dips below the horizon and lasts about 30 minutes |

We sure enjoyed our day! The sunset was beyond words...I had never seen the sun setting on the west coast before. I hope you have. If you haven't, I hope you can one day.
Thanks for visiting our blog. We do love it when you take the time to comment. Have a great week! If you are on the road to new places, be safe. If you are settled in, enjoy.
Nice sunset shots. Don't you just love the smell of the ocean? It's intoxicating!!!

ReplyDeleteIt's about time.
Ahh, the ocean! I do love the ocean. The sunset reminds of the many we viewed in FL (but no surfers). The VW bus fits the scene perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos! Thanks for sharing!
Gorgeous sunset pictures. Sea lion pups oh how sweet. They are sure cute. Won't be long until I am taking sunset pictures again, but not out west.

You asked on George and Suzie's blog where to park in Phoenix that is dog friendly? Are you Elks members? The Scottsdale Elks is a gem. There are also a couple really nice Maricopa county parks- Usery Mountain and Cave Creek. In addition they also have a couple dog parks around there for your canine family.
ReplyDeleteThanks Wanderin...I will be looking into all your suggestions. We have never heard of Elks so will google that for info.
