San Diego Metro KOA
Chula Vista, CA
New Year's Eve had us up bright and early. The trailer was loaded with groceries and a large cooler, Pearl was loaded with pups and doggie beds, and we were out the door. It was travel day...I LOVE travel day ! It was cloudy and rainy, but the route to San Diego is I 8 West...pretty flat and long and straight so the rain and clouds were perfect. The pups settled right in.
Jack and I always share the passenger seat. |
Sally prefers her bed that just fits under my foot rest. |
And Dover (our co-pilot extraordinaire) is sometimes caught napping on the job. |
Joe's favorite kind of traffic! |
We did a sleepover in Dateland, our side of Yuma to be rested and ready for the next day of mountains and city traffic. I don't remember more than a couple of times that Joe and I actually stayed up to midnight to welcome in the new year. We just always go to bed with the hope of starting our new year in the morning. New Years Day, dawned sunny and bright. We toasted the new year with coffee and bagels and hit the road.
Lots of containers going east and west. |
A familiar sight... |
I'm not a fan of these bridges with no sides and an endless drop. |
We really enjoy San Diego...I mean what is not to like? The weather, the beaches, the food, the markets, and especially friends. We met Ronnie and Carol right here at the KOA in January 2013. We have enjoyed several visits in San Diego along with other parts of the country as well thru the years. We were all smiles and hugs yesterday. And look what Carol brought...succulents that she rooted from her plants for our patio.
One of the the many things we like about this KOA are the doggie parks (they have two)...
...and all the green.
Can you see Jack's ball? He is totally focused so we let him off leash to play catch sometimes. The girls...not trusted! |
And so, our new year is off to a wonderful start.
Our little circus puppy waits patiently. |
Happy New Year everyone! Cheers to 2022.
Until next time...
Welcome to 'America's Finest City'! We too use Dateland as a stop, if just for a Date Shake.
ReplyDeleteCrossing that bridge is more 'interesting' when the winds are blowing ;P
Hope the weather holds for you.
Date shakes are considered to be a health food, right? Fingers crossed on the weather. And looking forward to lunch with you and Fran!
DeleteLove the photos of your pups--so sweet! Enjoy your time in sunny (we hope) San Diego! It's certainly not warm in Tucson today!
ReplyDeleteThanks Janna! Forecast shows lots of sunny days with only a couple of rainy days in the mix, but you know how that goes. I’m glad I brought in all my plants that were on the patio. They might still die, but at least I did my part! 👍
DeleteEnjoy your time in San Diego. Hope the wet weather has moved on for awhile. Love all the photos of the Clan, especially sweet Jack and his ball. Beautiful pots for your patio! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam. Not much rain in the forecast…fingers crossed! We don’t have any grass, so the pups are loving their time outside.
DeleteEnjoy the warm weather. Not warm here in AZ. I lived in San Diego a zillion years ago in the 80s. I would love to see it after all these years but probably won't happen. Your puppets are beyond cute.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandie. We love visiting SD! Hoping it warms up real soon back at the oasis!
DeleteI, too, love travel day! (and hate that bridge....) Enjoy your time away with friends. You have the best of both worlds - traveling and getting back home! Sweet dog pictures, I know they enjoy the break in routine too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue! For sure the pups are loving all the grass…we don’t have any at our home. Family and friends are everything and it’s so awesome to make memories together!
