Corona de Tucson

Monday is Memorial Day. It is the day set aside by our country to honor our fallen soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our nation and our freedom.
In keeping with the December, 2000 law signed by President Clinton, all Americans are encouraged to pause for a moment at 3:00 pm local time to honor those who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces. President Clinton noted, "The observance of a National Moment of Remembrance is a simple and unifying way to commemorate our history and honor the struggle to protect our freedoms."
We had new master bathroom and guest bathroom countertops, under mount sinks, and faucets installed on May 19th. The countertops were purchased thru Home Depot whose contractor is The Countertop Factory located in Tucson.. They did our kitchen a couple of years ago and we were very pleased with the product as well as the measuring and installation. We chose Silestone again rather than granite. Silestone is an engineered stone that is durable and non-pourous and requires little maintenance. Our week began working on a small project.
The mirror attached to the wall over the cabinet was removed along with the old countertops.
New tops, sinks and faucets were installed in both baths.
Joe worked his magic on the guest bath wall and I painted.
The Countertop Factory returned this past Friday to measure for the backsplashes which should be installed sometime the first week in June.

Master bath...I can't wait to get the backsplash and check this off the list. |
I'm not sure the job would have gone so smoothly without Jack supervising and staying on the job with Joe or without Dover cheering him on !
Other than a summer hair cut for Sally
Should hear from Dr. Huang next week... |
Early morning walks continue to start the day. The most spectacular sunrise we have had in months !
The sun rising from behind the Rincon Mountains... |

Joe and I feed the birds, fill the birdbath, water plants and enjoy our rocking chairs. A few photos from my rocker this week...
We have seen lots of Gamble's...but no babies yet. |
Loving on our puppies, rocking, walking and a few this and thats seem to have filled our days this week. Nothing exciting, and nothing boring...it's life and we are loving it ! Until next time,
Such pretty counters! They make such a big difference especially in smaller spaces. As always the clan and local critters pics steal the show :-))
ReplyDeleteThank you Jodee…the under mount sinks do make the space more useable. It seems I’m always snapping pics of the pups these days…
DeleteI bet the dogs didn't care for all the workers intruding into their house. Sally's haircut look so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove all the bird pictures, you have quite the busy backyard!
Good morning guys! The two men who came to install the counters and mount the sinks came early in the morning so the pups and I enjoyed the patio. It didn’t take them long at all. The birds are great entertainment…that’s why they get fed first thing after our walk.
DeleteNice countertops! I have mixed feelings about under mount sinks, but we have them everywhere in our house so I'm working it out. Love the tan clan pictures as they go about their busy days!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue…I have no confidence in myself anymore when making decisions that involve color. “Plain Jane” comes to mind as describing my choice. I do like the “neatness” of the under mount sinks, but agree there is an extra step when cleaning them. The pups do enjoy the ease of being home…
DeleteLove Sally's new haircut!--Emmi is getting one soon! So happy to hear Joe's biopsies were clear!! Being at home is never boring to us as it isn't to you guys. Montana is a great place to be in the summer. We had a woman move to this area, Mike was doing some work for the couple, I went with him, the woman asked me, "what do you DO here???" She didn't last long in this remote area of MT before she was gone. Great photos--sunrise, birds, walks--perfect!
ReplyDeleteThank you Janna! Sally loves her haircut too…she has been bouncing around the house and yard all week! We, especially me, were thrilled about Joes biopsies…six months with no MOHs is a record since 2015. The sunrise followed the sunset and was one of very few evenings/mornings in the past weeks we have had clouds. I don’t know where all the clouds have gone…I miss them! After years of family responsibilities and jobs, the word bored never enters our mind…
DeleteYAY! Joe is clear! I wonder f the quail know they are drinking out of the doves bathwater? Always so much activity at your oasis. The bathrooms look great.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jeff and thank you! The bathroom project was postponed last year due to some expensive vet bills. I’m so happy it is done…well almost done…and pleased with the results. Fingers crossed the backsplash will be installed without any issues. I can’t imagine a yard with no birds…I have Joe’s mom to thank for that some 40 years ago.
DeleteLove the new bathroom countertops! Great color choice. Glad to hear Joe got good news. Sure hope Jack's EKG has good results, as well. Lovely sunrise and bird photos. Life certainly is grand.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam and thank you! And yes, life is grand...it's just flying by way too fast!
DeleteWe totally agree with how fast time is moving. It's seems like everything is double time now. It needs to slow way down!
