Yuma, AZ
Our morning walk...just as the sun was peaking behind the mountains.
And then, the reflection in the Colorado River.
The river travels 1,450 miles from the Rockies before it empties into the Gulf of California...thru seven U.S. states and two Mexican states... is known for its dramatic canyons...
...and is a vital source of water for agriculture.
We stopped and watched as the Long-billed Curlew were having breakfast...
Shhh! If I'm really quiet, I'll get first dibs on breakfast! |
Forget quiet...I had better hurry! |
Open wide.... |
I saw it first! |
Later in the day, we stopped for a stroll down Main Street...
And were treated to a beautiful sunset to end the day...
The Doves were calling it a day...
and the bunnies were coming out to play!
Until next time, take care and
enjoy!
A really good day.
ReplyDeleteIt sure was Sandie!
DeleteLovely. One of these winters I hope we can stay in Arizona. --Dave
ReplyDeleteWe love it Dave!
DeleteLove that 'open wide' shot of the curlew!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! I was surprised when I downloaded the pictures to find it! I was snapping away....
DeleteSo beautiful down here, love it!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures as always.
We love it too George.
DeleteThanks for the compliment!
I'm not so sure about the Nile but the pictures were great and it looks like you had a marvelous day! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was reading about the history of the Colorado River, I read it was nicknamed the American Nile....I didn't make that up. I would not have thought to call it that myself.
DeleteGee, Gay, not sure which photo I liked the best. You really did an amazing job with these shots. That sunrise reflection is gorgeous! But that bird taking off...wow!! Love the Curlew with its mouth open. Awesome!! The water in the fountain was very creative. And that sunset...no words:)
ReplyDeleteI agree with the American Nile comparison having seen the Nile. My parents lived in Egypt.
Thank you so much Pam....we have so enjoyed our walks here. There's a hedge that separates us from the celery fields. We greet the day with the smell of sweet celery. What a nice treat and I love walking the river trail!
DeleteLove ALL the captures but the "Open Wide" is the best and my favorite!
ReplyDeleteThanks MonaLiza....I snapped away and just got lucky with that one!
DeleteLove all your shots. Especially the bird moving in water.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting good-times-rollin....and thanks for the compliment!
DeleteOkay, one of you really has a good eye for photography. I don't know which shots i liked best. The birds, the river, the drops of water upon the fountain. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Gayle....it's me! The more I use my camera, the more apart of me it becomes! I am loving my new found hobby! (Gay)
DeleteI like taking photos too but I'm a long way off from being proficient at it. I did break down & get a second Canon Rebel though. I got tired of constantly switching lens on just the one. Now I walk around with two cameras hanging off me. Typical tourist.
ReplyDeleteOh wow.....I'm a wee bit envious! I have a couple of lens and rarely ever switch. By the time I need to, it's way too late. I belong to the Nikon family.my favorite, multi-use lens is my 70 -300mm. Nothing wrong with being a typical tourist...sure beats working!
DeleteThese photos are just brilliant, and thank you for visiting my blog...
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'll be back.....and thanks for visiting my blog too!
Beautiful pictures. I have to confess that I've never had any interest in going to Yuma, altho we've been close…pictured it as brown and hot. I have a favorite nephew there working initially for a seed company and now a social worker who adopted 4 siblings. But your pictures bring out the best of the area I think. Sounds like life is good for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue....we are having a great time. I was so surprised to find all the beautiful fields of celery, lettuce, radishes, etc. They are so green!
DeleteLife is good....
