Corona de Tucson

Yippee ! We had clouds this week ! |
The backsplash in both baths was installed on Tuesday and yesterday I painted the edge. That little project is officially checked off.
Oh the memories...2016 coming down the Z-Turn on Moab Rim. Probably the biggest step down our 2-door JK ever did. Wahoo! |
The first Pima County Library, the Tucson Carnegie Library, was opened in 1901 and remained a library until 1996. A newer building was constructed to house the library and today the old building is home to the Children's Museum of Tucson. Since it's opening over 100 years ago, Pima County has grown to 27 public libraries covering 9,200 square miles to support literacy and education, provide access to information and resources, and serve as community gathering space. The newest of those libraries is right down the street from us on the east side of the interstate. Thursday, on the way to buy groceries, we stopped to check it out. W. Anne Gibson-Esmond Station Library was completed in February '21 the same month and year we bought our home here.
I noticed a walking trail the minute we pulled in the parking lot. The trail connects the library to Esmond Station Regional Park. It is a 274 acre park and named for the Esmond Station Railroad stop that was constructed along the original Southern Pacific Railroad line in the early 1900s. Several historic features and structures remain on the site. It was too hot to venture out on the trail, but we will definitely be checking it out this fall.
I love libraries and was so happy to be there as young children walked thru the doors excited about story hour and crafts. I have my library card and am good to go.
Friday morning Joe had an eye doctor appointment. Afterwards, was spent doing errands...a stop at Lowes, Wild Birds Unlimited, and Costco.
Back at the oasis and in-between this and that, we enjoyed our morning walks. We were up and out early and managed to get in four good walks.
The section of cart path behind our home. |
Early morning glow. Unedited...isn't this such a pretty color? |
We saw this hawk three days in a row sitting in the same tree. |
A volunteer sunflower beside the cart path. |
From days gone by... |
On one walk we headed out on the sidewalk before we got on the cart path. I wanted to see the sunrise and the pasture. |
The road along the pasture that takes us home when we go anywhere in the jeep. It was 5:20 am. |
It was Dee's birthday... we had a toast and sang Happy Birthday !
Rocking chair time and the birds...

A treat...
The pups love yogurt. Sally will only eat Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt...so thats what we all enjoy ! |
We like our yogurt piled high with blueberries, strawberries, oranges, unsweetened shaved coconut and Grape Nuts. It's lunch several times a week !
Sunset...
And that's a wrap...until next time,
HAPPY TRAILS !
My, your bird feeder has been busy! I have a question for Joe on shocks and lift kits. I'll see if I can fit your number tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGood morning guys…the birds have been very busy and very hungry! But we do enjoy having them around! The lift kit we have is a 21/2 “ TERAFLEX Lift Kit with FOX 9550 shocks. Those were the first modifications we had done two months after purchasing the jeep in March 2013. Seems like yesterday.
DeleteWhat a terrific library & area. Was the Jeep in the pic Wile e or Pearl & what sort of redo are you contemplating? Always enjoy following the blog-all the best.
ReplyDeleteGood morning…and thank you! The jeep picture in the post is Pearl…she is our everyday driver and gets us here and there and everywhere. There are no more modifications for Pearl these days…the makeover is to replace old, worn out seals. She has a lot of miles behind her!
DeleteYour bathroom counters look great--always nice to have a finished project! Mike said those seals have long been a weak point in Chrysler made projects--it will be nice (probably not on the pocketbook) to have Pearl all nice and leak free! I too love libraries--I have a Pima County library card also and use it to borrow books to read on my Kindle and also to borrow audiobooks. Birds galore in your backyard--that one seemed to be giving you the evil eye for taking his photograph! Love the pup photos, Sally has such discerning taste! I understand totally why you are up and out early for walking but geez that's early! Lovely sunset!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Janna and thank you! It’s nice to have new and fresh and something we picked out to enjoy. I’m excited about the library and the first book I checked out was by an author you mentioned last week…Joshilyn Jackson. We get up early…walk, feed the birds, tend to plants, and enjoy patio time…and take a nap after lunch for an hour or so. It’s a hard life…🤪!
DeleteBut we do love our "hard lives" don't we! I'm getting ready to take that nap right now--I've been busy this morning washing all the clothes we dirtied this past week while ATVing!
DeleteOur city libraries are pretty lame, but the county has some almost as nice as your local library. Nice to see Pearl enjoying Moab, if only in a photo. Bathroom looks great. Lots of entertainment at your feeders. Did those pesky white wing doves move on?
ReplyDeleteHi Jeff and thank you and a big NO! The saguaros have fruit now so I’m hoping those white winged dove head on to better places…the seeds in saguaro fruit is their favorite thing to eat! Lots of wonderful memories made in Moab. It is hard to believe Pearl is 10 years old…time flies!
DeleteWhat a beautiful library! Good you finally made the stop. I believe our library was one of our first stops when we bought our house. Getting that library card was a priority. I couldn't get through a day without a book. I use to tell my students that I build my day around my reading time. I still do! We are both readers. We are just loving this cooler weather we are having. I'll take the 80's all summer. Sure wish it would stick around. As a matter of fact we had to wear a light jacket to pickleball this morning. We ride our bikes to the court and it was only 68 at 7:00 so it was darn right chilly on our ride. Adorable puppy photos. Happy birthday to Dee. We've wondered what she's doing. We don't hear anything about her. Any trips to Moab planned? You had that beautiful spot that she made for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam…the weather has been awesome. I love the cool air in the mornings…whether we are walking or having coffee sitting by the fire…it’s really nice. One thing about the weather here is that the hottest part of the day comes much later than it did on the east coast. By noon we were sweltering back in Georgia and here the hottest temps of the day are 3-4 pm in the afternoon. Dee is doing great and we sure do miss her. No present plans to go to Moab…we have been keeping our trips much closer to home. Fingers crossed she will visit here this fall! I read in spells…summer is good time to catch up on books as outside activities are limited. I’m one of those people that if I start a book, nothing else gets done until I finish it!
DeleteI love that libraries are making a come back in both popularity and influence. Nice that the old building has been repurposed as well! The prickly pear in the sun glow is stunning - just wow. Wonderful orange flowers in the sunrise. Your posts inspire me to check out the world before 9 am :-))
ReplyDeleteHi Jodee…Joe and I have been early risers for as long as we have been married. We got up in time to walk 2 miles everyday, shower and have coffee and breakfast before we headed out for work at 7:00 am. We have also always gone to bed early…like real early by 9:00 pm. We still love the early mornings, and we also love a nap everyday! I wish I could sleep later…🤪!
