Joe had MOHs surgery for a squamous cell skin cancer on the back of his neck Tuesday afternoon. The rest of our week was quiet, peaceful, restful, uneventful and wonderful. We read, napped, fed the birds, watered flowers, laughed at the birds, studied the clouds, enjoyed the storms, and rocked on the patio. All is good at our little oasis.
I did spend time on the computer sorting thru photos...hundreds (and hundreds) of photos... that need to be organized and deleted and I only made a small dent. It's a fun project and a trip down memory lane for sure. Sally keeps me company...

| One of our emergency flood/wind weather alerts was on Thursday. It was trash pick-up day and we had a few empty trash containers float right by our house on their way to the reservoir... |

Mornings usually start out sunny with clear blue skies...
Clouds roll in...sometimes it rains and sometimes it doesn't.
We enjoy the rain and the fresh desert air the next morning after it rains during the night.
The hummingbirds have been busy this week. I have a small feeder we use in the summer because of the hot temps. I fill it everyday. This week it has been empty every morning when we head out to feed our other feathered friends.

I did practice trying to focus thru the fence...the blurry line down the middle of the photo is the iron fence.

| I zoomed in on the coyote in the back. Joe and I haven't seen a lot of coyotes lately...the desert grasses and bushes are so tall, we almost didn't see these! |

The cactus wrens continue their noisy, grumpy antics.

Poor Joe--I think he holds the record for MOHS procedures!! Here's hoping for quick healing. Love those rain photos--our caretaker sent a photo of our yard--green, green! Birds, coyotes, you have such a variety! Enjoy your week in the desert!
ReplyDeleteGood morning Janna…thank you! Joe has had a lot of MOHs surgeries. I stopped counting at 42! We are moving at a snail’s pace these days. But neither one of us seem to mind…😉! Between the two of us, we worked 72 years in our professional jobs and traveled the country non-stop for 9 years. Our little oasis is very peaceful! Hope you have a good week too!
Delete42?! Oh my goodness! After having one, I can't imagine going through it that many times. Ugh! I'm so sorry, but I'm thankful for the procedure for sure.

Hi Jill…I sure hope and pray you stop at 1 MOHs. That one was a doozy! And like you, we…especially your dad… are grateful for the procedure and our doctor. I have only had one as well. We love you too and are so excited to see you and Bill soon!

Good morning Jeff…Joe has a check for those darn skin cancers every three months! He actually made it six months between surgeries this time. That’s progress! We love sitting on the patio and watching the clouds every afternoon. We actually don’t mind the storms either…although we have had some very high winds lately!
DeleteA nice week indeed! (well, except for the MOHS, but at least it was caught early, right?) We're in Santa Fe right now and the skies are spectacular. Dramatic dark clouds literally crawl over us in the afternoons and the outflow winds chase us back inside after happy hour! l Tis the season
ReplyDeleteHi Sue…I’m loving your Santa Fe visit! The sky was a huge draw for us to settle down here. I like your word crawl…some days, the weather report says that thunderstorms are “on the prowl”…I laugh every time I read it…a lioness prowls…not thunderstorms! Yes, Joe visits the dermatologist every three months…😉😩!
DeleteOh, to dream of rain. We watch the clouds gather and pass way to our east as the sun continues to shine every day with rarely even a cloud. We do have A LOT of wind though. I always check the wind when planning my dinner menu. Inside cooking on our extreme windy days. It's too much work to keep relighting the grill when we have strong gusts. Beautiful bird photos, as always. Kevin's new house in Georgia is in the trees and he has a bird bath on the deck left by the previous owners and two bird feeders. He is enjoying his entertainment. He even had a beautiful Coopers Hawk sitting on the railing. He's has quite a few very colorful birds. He cleaned the bird bath yesterday and refilled it. The birds loved it. He sent us a video that said, the spa is open! Sorry to here that Joe was back for another surgery. Hope he heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteHi Pam….oh the memories you stirred up! I sometimes miss our Georgia birds. We always had Bluebirds, Robins, Chickadee, and lots oh Woodpeckers. I am so sorry to read you haven’t had rain. And fingers are crossed for all of us the have some cooler temps SOON! Joe is healing nicely & stitches come out next week!
DeleteYou certainly have quite the variety of birds there. That Flycatcher is beautiful! Going through photos like that is tedious and fun, reliving all those memories.
