First ride...
Headed for Gagetown...On the ferry... |
...along the St. John River... |
...passed the farms... |
...and churches... |
...through the apple orchards... |
...around the cemetary... |
...and around the cows... |
St. John reminded me of San Francisco....lots of hills....up and down we walked! |
The pink double-decker buses were quite busy. |
A view of the river from the top of the hill. |
King's Square...a park in downtown. |
The buildings are old and the store fronts are pretty....alot of variety and plants everywhere. |
The cruise ship is huge in the background. |
Market Square... |
...and local artists. |
We took a ferry ride across the Saint John River to get to the campground. The ferry runs 24/7. |
Our home in Saint John, New Brunswick at Harding's Point Campground. |
The stream flowing down the hill...just a short walk from our site. |
The water in the stream was cold to me, but Dover loved it... |
...and so did Sally! |
We loved the view from our coach... |
...and on our walks! |
We saw a pretty rainbow just after a quick rain... |
...and then there were two! What a sight. |
Can you believe it? The boys played ball everyday. |
The cottages were so pretty... |
...lots of antiques and treasures to plunder through... |
...lobster traps everywhere... |
...wild flowers with Blue Hill Bay in the background... |
and families having fun! It was a beautiful day. |
Climbing the rocks for a better view/picture... |
...the lighthouse was automated in 1974 and remains an active aid to navigation today. |
The coast along Blue Hill Bay just left of the lighthouse. |
The park includes mountains, an ocean shoreline, woodlands and lakes. In total, Acadia National Park consists of more than 47,000 acres. |
Volunteers contribute more that 25,000 hours to Acadia National Park each year....more than 2,000 people annually make the time to give something back to the only national park in Maine. |
July 3...Joe and I rode the Harley to Bar Harbor. What a great time. The ride over from Ellsworth, about 30 miles, was a pretty ride. I enjoyed all the cottages and lobster pounds along the way. |
We had fresh bay caught haddock for lunch at a waterfront restaurant. Quite tasty! We enjoyed watching the boats and the people and the weather was perfect! |
The store fronts are so pretty and inviting... |
...and of course we are drawn to the pet boutiques! |
