Tucson, AZ
March 5-12, 2014
I can hardly believe it has been a week...its almost scary how fast time seems to be flying by.We made the day trip back to Tucson last Wednesday. Our morning walks have changed just a little...instead of the sweet smell of fresh celery, we are treated to the sweet smell of orange blossoms.
Our weather here has been really nice except for a day of winds up to 25 mph. I do love it when we can have all the windows open and enjoy a nice breeze.

Also, this week I got a new job. I am now the official tire cover "putter oner". We ordered these new tire covers. It just got to the point that we never put on the old ones we had because they were really a pain.
Now, I can do that job all by myself in less than 5 minutes! And Joe really likes how they twist up (like a sun visor we have in Pearl) and store in a small black bag.
We did make a trip to Lowes...my favorite store! I am so lucky because Joe loves Lowes too! Imagine that.
Can you believe spring is just around the corner?
I spent the entire time there in the garden center. I do love flowers...
I actually was on a mission to study cactus gardens. We seem to be spending a lot of time in the desert so I figure a cactus garden on the picnic table is in order. There sure is a variety of succulents.
Tah-dah!
We needed information and maps for some outdoor fun. Cant wait to hit some trails. We also want to check out the Madera Canyon area.
Joe had a visit to the dermatologist this past Monday. He had a few "places" frozen...so... either tomorrow or Friday...we are pulling out the hiking boots and heading outside.
How did this little guy know it was my birthday today? I was treated to a birthday song this morning. And Joe sang to me too and we even had lunch at Mi Nidito with our next door neighbor Randy....just about the best Mexican food EVER!
Life is good...until next time, take care and...
enjoy!
Happy Birthday Gay! Hope you enjoyed a birthday margarita @ Mi Nidito?
ReplyDeleteThanks David! No margaritas for lunch yesterday, but I sure cleaned my plate!
DeleteNice wheel covers....they seem to blend in with the tires, unlike the white ones that most of us have. Love the dog picture! --Dave
ReplyDeleteThank you Dave. Dover is so photogenic and has such expressive eyes! A real joy in our lives....
DeleteHappy Happy Birthday. Hope the gang made you a cake ….. and not out of dog biscuits ! My favorite place is the Desert Museum. We've wandered about every time we are there. And the saguaros are magnificent. Can't wait to see where you're headed next. Sue
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue and thanks for the birthday wishes. No cake here, but we did stuff ourselves with some Reece's peanut butter ice cream for supper last night!
DeleteWe do plan to visit the Desert Museum. We actually went twice last year, but both times we got there the parking lot was full of school buses and tour buses so we never stopped.
Birthday girl I am jealous, a bird sang to you! But I know it is a better singer than I am so just writing my greetings, instead….Happy Birthday Gay.
ReplyDeleteThose covers are unique, you can see the wheels! I am with you about putting those tire covers, a pain indeed but at least I only do a pair.
You are in for a treat, lots of hiking trails in the Sabino Canyon area, and you are going to make me jealous again for hitting them.
Ah...thank you MonaLiza! Hope we can compare singing voices one day...I would be willing to bet yours is a lot better than mine!
DeleteIt's very windy today...not sure what the plans are yet, but my camera and boots are ready!
Your welcome Gay. Steve is wondering who made those tire covers? And oh we love our magna shades, it only take Steve seconds to put it on the windshield.
DeleteOh never mind Gay, I clicked on your link and those tire covers are made by magneshades too! Thanks for showing yours, we might consider replacing our white covers.
DeleteHappy Birthday Gay! Looks like you had a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan...it was an especially nice day!
DeleteWhen do you and Steve head up to Crazy Horse? I'm thinking it's getting close to time.
Happy Birthday too!! I love the spring and the flowers and birds. It's definitely a great time of year.
ReplyDeleteI do love spring too! Last year was my first spring in the desert....so much beauty! I was very surprised at myself... just fell in love with it all! It's even worth the stuffy nose!
DeleteThanks for the birthday wishes!
Hey Happy Birthday, sounds like having too much fun there.
ReplyDeleteThanks George!
DeleteYou and Suzi have been busy...can't wait to check out your post on Castle Dome. We had a great time there!
Well first of all, Happy Birthday to you. I remember Mi Nidito from an earlier post. Sounds like an excellent choice to me. Did you try a new dish this time? Lowe's was always a favorite place for us to shop back when we had a house & garden, especially so at this time of year. Nice looking cactus garden you have there. Enjoy Tucson again.
ReplyDeleteHi Gayle...thanks for the birthday wishes! I did a repeat...ate the same thing. It was the combo with 4 samplings of my favorites. Maybe next time....an excuse to go back (not that we need one, huh?). There is also a Mexican restaurant right across the street from Mi Nidito I want to try. It was established in 1946...can you tell I do love Mexican food?
DeleteA girl after my own heart. I'll be awaiting your critique on the other Mexican restaurant. It's been in business awhile, that should mean something. Bon Apetite!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Gal! How nice to have so many birthday songs!
ReplyDeleteLove the new tire covers. Very classy look.

This is a wonderful hike we took with friends in Sabino Canyon. Super reward at the end and several neat water crossings on the way up.
Beautiful cactus gardens! I think this is what I need to do since I, also, have a love for the cactus. Thanks for sharing:)
Hi Pam...thanks for the happy birthday wishes.
DeleteThanks for the link...I was also going to check out your hikes to find the crested saguaros...I do remember you were on quite a search last year. Between you and MonaLiza, I am never lacking in research for hikes! It is because of your blog last year, and then meeting Steve and Joan, that Joe and I became addicted!
Hope you find lots of crested saguaro:) I Googled them and that is how I located several of them.
DeleteSo glad we all found hiking. It sure is an awesome form of exercise:)
Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!
DeleteHappy Birthday dear Gay, Happy Birthday to you! I wish you many more happy days! Love you picnic table arrangement!!
