Happy Valentine's Day

Corona de Tucson

February 12, 2023

Back in the rollin' days, Joe and I spent a good bit of time at Lazydays KOA here in Tucson...even before it was a KOA.  Jim and Laura were usually in a site across the street from us and Craig was parked next door to them.  Last year when they arrived and settled in for the winter, we all had lunch at our home.  Last Sunday, Joe and I were invited for lunch at their home on wheels.  It was kind of weird pulling in the KOA...we are a few days short of two years owning our home.  We enjoyed a yummy lunch and a great visit with them in the warm sunshine.

On Wednesday, Joe had an appointment at the eye doctor and Janna and Mike were in town for errands.  We met at BJ's for lunch, a visit and a good dose of laughing with friends !

Back at the oasis, there isn't much to write about.  Days began on the chilly side and warmed up nicely to the 60's with somedays sunny and others cloudy, but the winds have kept us inside.  Friday winds gusted at 37 mph and it continued all day Saturday.  Sally's favorite place to watch the world go by...

...and on Saturday, the clouds lingered all day.

Sunny days and shadows...

We often hear the coyotes howling in the wee hours of the morning or just before dark. They are usually out of sight, but I was lucky to notice one mid week.  He is quite the handsome fellow.

Sunrise...

and sunset...

Happy Valentine's Day from the oasis...

and the desert.

Until next time, a blast from the past !

  1. That does not look like a humming bird on the feeder ...
You captured the shadow of your Kokopelli perfectly, it looks like there are two of them.
Sure looks like a healthy coyote, hope your quails are all safe

    1. Hi Jeff, isn’t she so funny? What doesn’t show in the photo is the hummer buzzing above her which didn’t phase her one little bit. Most of my life, I have thought shadows were so fun and enjoyed doing shadows with our children and grands as well as all the years I taught K and 1st grade. Yes, that is a very healthy coyote and we are keeping a close eye on Jack.

  2. We too hear the coyotes and a few days ago I saw two of them quite close to the house--Emmi doesn't get to go outside without us! Love your last photo--the reflection on the car--Happy Valentine's Day!

    1. Hi Janna…the photo of the red rocks is one of my favorites and I have it framed in our home. It’s one of those special photos where the lighting was perfect. Even with a fence, we don’t let the pups out without watching them…we read coyotes can jump a six foot fence…😬!
