Settling In

San Diego Metro KOA
Chula Vista, CA
January 6, 2017

Our puppies are beginning to settle into a new routine and time zone.  Jack has been very insistent that 4:00 pm is dinner time, but he isn't winning that battle.  He actually had dinner at 5:10 yesterday and slept until 7:00 am this morning...yipee!

The KOA here is one of our favorite places to stay.  The park is full of lush, green grass, tall trees...mostly eucalyptus trees with beautiful white/gray smooth bark, and a wonderful variety of colorful flowers.

After a very rainy and chilly day Thursday, we woke up to sunshine and warmer weather on Friday.  It wasn't hard to figure out what to do...the doggie beach was calling and we went !  Coronado Dog Beach is our favorite doggie beach EVER !  It's big and it's clean.  There are always pups and people there, but it never seems crowded and Jack can play ball with very little interference from other pups.  Running and fetching is exactly how he spent the morning...

Even Sally was feeling frisky.

Dover is the only one of our pups who actually enjoys the water.  First thing, she heads straight for the waves.

We saw quite a few sand dollars.  The wet sand looked like it had gold glitter in it.  We have never noticed that before.  Any ideas as to what it might be?

It's always a pretty view looking back at Hotel del Coronado...

and seeing Point Loma.
I LOVE doggie beach day.  Other than the tide pools, it's my favorite thing to do in San Diego.

Until next time,

HAPPY TRAILS !

Happy New Year

San Diego Metro KOA
Chula Vista, CA
January 3, 2016

The last couple of weeks in 2015 were quiet and peaceful around our home here in Chula Vista. The weather was rainy and cooler and most days were spent dodging showers to walk to the bark park and play.

Just before the rains set in, we did walk several miles of the Florida Canyon Trails...a suggested urban hike on one of the web sites I visited.

As far as we could tell, there wasn't any specific way to go so we twisted up and down, around, and somehow managed to end up where we began.

Another sunny day, we had fun at the beach with the puppies. They love going to the beach and we love watching them have fun!

Jack playing ball is always a treat.

Joe calls Jack our "Little Champion" weighing in at 12 pounds...
(For anyone interested, the beach doggie park on Coronado Island is on land owned by the Navy base.)

As we were leaving, this Snowy Egret caught my eye.
 Home...

lazy, rainy days...

bird watching days...

and sunny, take a walk days.

The lower back 40 is property owned by the KOA. The surrounding homes and the KOA work together to have a community garden.

Some of the produce and eggs go to the on-sight cafe here at the KOA.
