My First (and Second) Roadrunner!

Tucson/Lazydays KOA

Yesterday, Joe and I had ourselves a grand time outdoors. Our first choice for a hike was the shortest hike on our list in the Sabino Canyon Recreation Area. Blackett's Ridge is sandwiched between Sabino and Bear Canyon and is 6.2 miles round trip. I am saving that post as I was and still am so excited about seeing not only one, but two roadrunners yesterday...I could hardly wait to share!

Thanks to Pam (Oh, the Places They Go!) and MonaLiza (The Lowe's RV adventures) we are never lacking in great places to hike wherever we park...it seems they have already been there...thanks for sharing! Sabino Canyon RA has many...and I do mean lots of trails... and Joe and I will be (the good Lord willing) exploring them all! Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a next door neighbor who grew up here, has family here, and returns here every year to give you suggestions of places to explore too...thanks Randy!

This beautiful bird was amazing! We enjoyed at least 15 minutes of the best roadrunner entertainment EVER...at least for us! According to allaboutbirds.org roadrunners are born to run and can outrace most humans. I sure was glad this guy was taking a break. They can reach two feet from bill to the tip of their tail.

Joe spotted this beauty as we were heading back down the ridge... several people stopped, we all chatted and did the WOW!s. I was determined I would not be the first to leave. He wasn't spooked, that's for sure.

He finally jumped off behind the boulder he was on and we continued on our way...with a huge smile, an exuberant feeling that all is good, and anticipation of what kind of pictures we had.

The last part of the hike is a wide path that takes you back to the visitor center or parking lot...low and behold...roadrunner #2!

Life is good...until next time,

enjoy!

Up next...our first hike at Sabino Canyon.

Its Been a Week Already!

Tucson/Lazydays KOA
Tucson, AZ
March 5-12, 2014

I can hardly believe it has been a week...its almost scary how fast time seems to be flying by.We made the day trip back to Tucson last Wednesday. Our morning walks have changed just a little...instead of the sweet smell of fresh celery, we are treated to the sweet smell of orange blossoms.

Our weather here has been really nice except for a day of winds up to 25 mph. I do love it when we can have all the windows open and enjoy a nice breeze.

M&G hook-up from MH to Jeep
First "to do" was have the M&G brake system installed. Joe delivered Pearl to Jeff Fisher early Thursday morning. It was an all day job. Belle (our MH) was at Fisher's early Friday morning for the last install. This system replaces a brake buddy that "bit the dust". Joe had done lots of research, talked with others, and decided the M&G was what he wanted long before the brake buddy died. Ease when hooking up is a huge plus with the M&G. There is nothing in the Jeep, only this one connection from MH to Jeep.

Also, this week I got a new job. I am now the official tire cover "putter oner". We ordered these new tire covers. It just got to the point that we never put on the old ones we had because they were really a pain.

Now, I can do that job all by myself in less than 5 minutes! And Joe really likes how they twist up (like a sun visor we have in Pearl) and store in a small black bag.

I like how neat they look! We met Roger Hunckler here in Tucson back in January. He is the owner of Magne Shade. Joe has added the magne shades to his wish list. If interested...check it out at www.magneshade.com.

We did make a trip to Lowes...my favorite store! I am so lucky because Joe loves Lowes too! Imagine that.
Can you believe spring is just around the corner?

I spent the entire time there in the garden center. I do love flowers...

I actually was on a mission to study cactus gardens. We seem to be spending a lot of time in the desert so I figure a cactus garden on the picnic table is in order. There sure is a variety of succulents.

Tah-dah!

I don't usually have my camera at Lowes, but we also went to Sabino Canyon Recreation Area in the Coronado National Forest.

We needed information and maps for some outdoor fun. Cant wait to hit some trails. We also want to check out the Madera Canyon area.

Joe had a visit to the dermatologist this past Monday. He had a few "places" frozen...so... either tomorrow or Friday...we are pulling out the hiking boots and heading outside.

How did this little guy know it was my birthday today? I was treated to a birthday song this morning. And Joe sang to me too and we even had lunch at Mi Nidito with our next door neighbor Randy....just about the best Mexican food EVER!

Life is good...until next time, take care and...

enjoy!
