Dragonflies...Macro Monday

Portal RV Resort

Thanks to Sheila at, I had a nice walk around the koi pond here at Portal with my camera in hand. I have to admit that I have not done my due diligence in using my macro or wide angle lens. But after admiring her beautiful pictures of maturing male Ponderosa pine cones and water droplets on Lamb's Ear plants, I went to experiment and this is what I found...

a burst of color...

a spider on a daylily...

and seed pods.

But the most fun was looking eye to eye with a dragonfly...

Have a great week everyone!

  1. A friend of mine, and fellow blogger, said she wanted to sell one of her macro lenses, and would do it for a cheap price. I inquired, and her price was $800! Not cheap enough for me. ;) Neat header!

    1. You can purchase macro lenses for a lot less than that. Look at B&H Photo or Amazon.

  2. Fantastic pictures of the dragonfly.

  3. Great shots, especially the dragonfly. I'm always trying to get a photo of one, but they move too fast for me. Some day, some day.... :)

  4. Definitely some pretty amazing photos!

  5. Gay, absolutely fantastic photos! Just love them all. So glad you got your macro lens out; isn't it amazing. The Dragonfly photos are super! Have fun! Thanks for your kind words, glad I inspired you to get this lens out, because I get to see the wonderful results!

  6. Love those pictures today, amazing how you can get up close and personal with that lens.

  7. Gay, these are incredible. More please.

  8. The photos are amazing! I immediately checked out wolfsongblog after reading your blog. I want a few photography lessons too if it means I'll be able to take photos like yours.

  9. Cool shots Gay, especially the Dragonfly. I was never able to capture those critters! I can relate to learning macro photography, its a style on its own. Some of my wildflower shots were macro just like my recent header.
